The world is divided, this much we can see everywhere. Each side is cloaked in fear. Fear for survival, fear of living. There’s fear in our blood and the tip of our tongue. We are polarized on one side of the other, pushing and pulling in a game of tug of war, as if the tension between us is the truth. We believe our truth is so clear cut. One side pushes others away , when one side pulls others in. Our ideologies have created false idols that perpetuate a world of terror. We don’t look to understand, we seek differences and become a martyr to a limited world view. These lines in the sand we’ve drawn, we never cross them. In our daily lives we construct identities based upon where we stand. We feel righteous in our belief systems. We seek shelter in the construct of our minds, confirming with each experience why we took sides to begin with. None of us want to fight, so we fight each other for the sake of not fighting. We wage war on ourselves because we believe strength is measured in anger. We get very angry and scared when someone shakes this world view we became stagnant and comfortable in. We find solace in hurting. What poison we’ve made out of medicine, when we could be understanding. What monsters we’ve made of shadows in the night that would look different in the light of morning.
